ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses many of the issues to be considered in making oral presentations. After the interviews were conducted, the consultant and the committee held a day-long meeting offsite. Throughout the meeting, the firm received feedback on the client’s reaction to the work, including additional information that needed to be collected, issues or problems the client saw as highlighted in the data, and how the conclusions could be presented more effectively. After the first meeting, the consultants collected the additional information the client said was needed and revised their written report. Sometimes consultants get sidetracked with irrelevant issues, such as trying to impress a client with their expertise. The consultant interviewed the members of the committee and identified seven issues that seemed to be major points of conflict. An effective consultant is one who not only collects and presents findings but also assists clients in taking action to solve problems.
