ABSTRACT

The landscape is chock-full of different programs for entrepreneurs. This chapter presents the innovative programs prevailing today, such as open innovation platforms (OIPs), individual-personalized platforms, innovation hubs, venture builders, startup factories, impact hubs, startup studios, venture labs, co-labs and boot camps. It discusses the target participants, the main features of the processes, and the deliveries and outcomes in terms of impact on student entrepreneurs. Program innovation and differentiation are debated, and examples of these programs’ execution in different parts of the world are presented. The chapter concludes with the case study of SOSA NYC, an OIP that changed the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and has shown a most successful ‘disruption’ of the conventional mindset on startups. In 2018, SOSA was chosen by the city of New York to build its official Global Cyber Center, thereby transforming NYC into the cyber capital of the world.
