ABSTRACT

A Hearing Impairment or a Visual Impairment can significantly disadvantage a student in school. This chapter contains checklists to help identify students with a previously undiagnosed problem with hearing and/or vision. For those students already known to have a sensory impairment, the checklists can help to profile their individual difficulties. Supporting notes include information on Hearing Impairment and Visual Impairment, suggested strategies for supporting the student in the classroom, recommended further reading and information about useful organizations and their web sites.
