ABSTRACT

Systemic work with families through various approaches focuses on context and systemic dynamics within clients and the systems in which they live. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is not typically described as systemic, however, even though it often is included in family therapy training. This chapter describes SFBT with families through examples and dialogue. Included is a case of SFBT with a couple and descriptions of how the approach can be useful in various family configurations. Commentary accompanies dialogue.
