      ABSTRACT

Philip Schaff documented the development of creeds, statements of belief with regards to various tenets of faith held by the church. He started with one of the earliest, in which the church affirmed, “Reader believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible, and in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God. He responded, “Nothing will ‘prove’ the existence of God. To him, his experience does not determine anything about God or compel Him in any particular direction. Yet, his experience is of interest to Him. So, consistent with His nature, God will intercede in his life. His experience does not call God into existence, but it does call God into action.” Understanding the narrative of one’s ongoing relationship or standing with God depends on understanding some basics regarding the nature of God.
