ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the skills required to manage the entrepreneurial journey and the innovation process based on technology adoption. Specifically, it addresses the following: adaptability, finding and managing people, managing cash effectively, focusing on customers, selling, creating and managing alliances, creativity and innovation, humility, and optimism and inspiration. The emergence of internet and digital businesses has allowed some entrepreneurs to achieve exponential growth of their startups based on models of collaboration and sharing. The analysis of such cases by Pentagrowth has found that there are five levers driving the successful growth of internet businesses: (1) connect, (2) collect, (3) empower, (4) enable and (5) share. The case of Sherpa is a very good example of adaptability. The case of Dropbox is a very good example of skills in creativity and innovation. The chapter also illustrates a good visualization of some of the entrepreneurial traits related to optimism and inspiration.
