ABSTRACT

A Smart City refers to a city employing digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to address the growing urban challenges and promote economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Many governments have been heavily investing in the construction of smart cities to bring about more responsive and reliable government services, enhanced productivity and efficiency in business, and better quality of life. Digital government under the Smart Nation initiative is about taking the government’s digital transformation to the next level by integrating data with digitalization to build a stronger, leaner, more efficient, and more responsive government. Recently, the Ministry of Manpower ‘has deployed cameras and sensors to improve the monitoring and enforcement of workplace safety at construction site’. The Smart Nation initiative aims to harness technology to enable people to live meaningful and fulfilled lives. Telehealth has been adopted to ‘deliver home health, consultation, rehabilitation services, and chronic disease monitoring and management’.
