ABSTRACT

The extremist propaganda flowing from terrorist organizations and various hate groups is riddled with false and misleading statements designed to inspire, recruit and radicalize followers. Such actions alarm the world. But those actions are not new and terrorists did not invent them. Capitalistic corporations have mastered the art of deception, lying, misinformation, and fraud, which has led to the deaths of millions of people worldwide. There are many more people who have suffered financial loss as well as disruption to and sometimes the destruction of their lives. This chapter examines the extremist propaganda being disseminated by corporations, with the primary case study being the tobacco industry in the U.S.
