ABSTRACT

Developmental Perspective on education in general and character education in particular, it may be helpful to remember that the Six Design Principles of primed tend to overlap. Most obviously, Prioritization not only refers to prioritizing character education in general, but it also means prioritizing each of the other five Design Principles. However, there are many more areas of overlap. Modeling and Relationship are foundational to nurturing Intrinsic Motivation. Developmental Pedagogy shares many of the implementation strategies of Intrinsic Motivation. Developmental Pedagogy is a perspective built around this understanding. It frames how we do education with an eye toward the long view. Developmental Perspective is to avoid complacency. If life is a journey and we want the journey to be toward progress, then we cannot be complacent, for complacency is the enemy of progress and the foundation of apathy. Embracing the fragility of the moment is one way to avoid complacency and to embrace a Developmental Perspective.
