ABSTRACT

Stress to most people means something unpleasant which produces unwanted effects and impedes their performance, but it is not difficult to think of stressful activities author's willingly and knowingly undertake. The Selye's model also allows for the description of the strength or degree of stress from low to high, low stress he called 'hypostress' while high stress is 'hyperstress'. The basis of the signs of stress is the 'fight or flight' reaction to threat. Relaxation techniques can be very beneficial both on a regular daily basis and in anticipation of a stressful event such as a job interview. Most time management techniques are simple and easily learned and again there are plenty of books offering to teach one how to do it. Assertiveness has become associated with women's rights yet the skills of assertiveness are just as appropriate for men, it has also been confused with aggressiveness.
