ABSTRACT

The hospitality business has to be fully aware of how the environment in which it competes can influence its development decisions. It also has to be flexible enough to adapt to the ever-changing and dynamic nature of the hospitality environment. The hospitality business needs to be able to understand those factors that can have an impact on its future development and consider how it can position itself to be able to react to changing environmental forces and competitive activities. This chapter will discuss a range of concepts for analysing the environment of the hospitality business. These concepts can be used as a basis for the decision-making activities of the hospitality business.
