ABSTRACT

The planet of belief concerned with the West Coast is built out of particles associated with and perpetuated by popular culture and the entertainment industry. The planet of belief about this region is scarce in detail, and the description points more to the lack of ideas rather than actual direct or indirect experiences with dialects in this region. The variation in the labels as described shows that, on one hand, planets of belief have some commonalities that rely on stereotypes of the South, while on the other hand, the perception of the South is complex and nuanced, especially among residents of the South. The image of Planet USA that emerges from the labels and distributions of the perceptions is not a very detailed one. The words that are presented show the most frequent labels that emerged from the data.
