This chapter presents explanatory writing, Revising, Verification and Editing. As screenwriting professor Richard Walter puts it: there is no writer’s block. Narrative journalism guru Lee Gutkind has dedicated half of his book You Can’t Make This Stuff Up to writing and editing. Narrative journalism, and narrative science journalism is a lot of fun, from finding ideas to reporting, to structuring stories to writing them. Giorgia Guglielmi is a freelance science journalist covering the life science, science policy and the intersection of science and society. The chapter explores how editors and writers generally revise their texts. What all the writing coaches seem to agree on is that working with an editor is immensely valuable.
