ABSTRACT

The chapter begins with a monologue highlighting the implications of trust and faith for well-being and survival for both clergy and believers. The chapter deals with the problems in conceptualizing and assessing trust in God. The chapter reviews developmental processes responsible for trust in God from the perspective of KAT and attachment theory. It includes discussions of the potential relations between trust in God, sex abuse scandals, religious affiliation, and trust in others. The applied focus of the chapter is on whether or not trust in God and trust in prayers to God promotes physical and mental health.
