ABSTRACT

The chapter begins with a monologue highlighting the issue of establishing rapport and building trust with a child with autism. The chapter reviews the research on developing rapport and concomitant trust in close relationships (interpersonal, mother-child) and then reviews research on building trust between different religious denominations and nations. The chapter includes recommendations for a therapeutic technique that would help individuals who hold very low trust beliefs in others. The applied focus comprises recommendations for how nations, specifically the United States and North Korea, can build trust and disarm to help to ensure peace.
