ABSTRACT

This chapter is a revised chapter. It provides an overview of why the book was researched and written as well as a summary of key terms/theories of the book (i.e., narrative, discourse, metaphor, millennialism, teacher identity) similar to the original 2006 text, but updated with new research on teacher identity development and generational theory. This chapter outlines the book’s research methodology, which is described by the author as qualitative and interview-based, with an emphasis on narrative and metaphor. It also provides brief portraits of the participants and a narrative description of why I chose to do a second, revised edition.
