ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the controversial debates surrounding Chavez’s legacy. What did he achieve in Venezuela? What improved and what got worse? It analyzes how the media discussed his death and legacy as one of complete ruin for the country, contrary to empirical data. It also discusses how the media portrayed his funeral, attended by 30 democratically elected heads of state, as a rogue’s gallery of dictators.
