ABSTRACT

Self-esteem is without doubt one of the key aspects of successful learners. Every effort should be made, irrespective of the setting, to boost the self-esteem of children with dyslexia. Inclusion is more than an ideal – it is a process that every school needs to be engaged in and every child has the right to experience. Study skills are essential for dyslexic children. There is some evidence that dyslexic children require particular help in the area, principally due to their organisational difficulties. Mind mapping was developed by T. Buzan to help children and adults develop their learning skills and utilise their abilities as much as possible. There are a considerable number of intervention strategies for teaching reading and spelling to children with dyslexia. Paired reading may be particularly useful for children with dyslexia since it provides both visual and auditory input simultaneously.
