ABSTRACT

Digital storytelling is a participatory and/or collaborative research method that enables people and communities to communicate, share their lives and illustrate their lived realities, from their perspective. This method can be seen as both a form of art and a way to communicate and record information. Digital stories can be nonlinear, interactive and visually-engaging, using a wide variety of features such as photography, music, text, graphics, narration, title screens, infographics, memes and sound effects. Digital storytelling can also be used as a powerful tool for teaching and learning. There are a variety of ways in which digital stories can be analysed, depending on theoretical perspective, methodological framework and digital medium. Methods include discourse analysis, content analysis, comparative analysis, frame analysis, thematic analysis and theoretical analysis.
