ABSTRACT

The strategy map begins with an explanation of the strategic direction of the organization, which consists of guiding principles, core competencies, vision, mission, and a definition of the customer. The primary benefit of creating a strategy map is that it is a great way to organize all the major aspects of the strategy into a concise format. The organization of the strategy map makes it easy to quickly locate the information needed and helps all members of the organization see how they fit into the strategy. A great way to keep the momentum going to build buy-in is to post a draft of the strategy map in a common area and invite all members of the organization to stop by and view it. Feedback can be provided by talking to any member of the strategic planning team, by dropping suggestions in a suggestions box, or by writing notes directly on the strategy map if the map is printed large enough.
