ABSTRACT

The chapter begins with a conventional purpose statement to frame the book’s contents: “The purpose of this book is to anthologize selected writings representing a diversity of qualitative genres and styles by research methodologist Johnny Saldaña.” Next, key influences and affects on the author’s life, ranging from education to professional development, are profiled. Then, a review of his major publications (journal articles, book chapters, books, keynote addresses) and the evolution of his work as a qualitative research methodologist are described. Four modalities of writing are then profiled with examples: the prosaic, poetic, dramatic, and technical. The chapter concludes with an overview of the contents that follow in the book’s remaining chapters.
