ABSTRACT

First, the pedagogy of qualitative research methods courses is discussed, with a call to make inquiry and learning experiences as active and participatory as possible for students. Then, two selections from the ancillary materials developed for The Coding Manual for Qualitative Researchers are presented. “Exercises and Activities for Coding and Qualitative Data Analytic Skill Development” include strategies for independent work. “Group Exercises” offer an array of classroom activities to develop student awareness of analytic concepts such as patterns, codes, categories, grounded theory, and other qualitative principles.
