ABSTRACT

In 2014, I was contacted by Dr. Joyce King who wanted to seek my interest in working with a group of youth organizers in New York. The name of the organization was Girls for Gender Equity (GGE). The organization was committed to programs and advocacy work that serve the needs of girls of color. According to Dr. King, the youth organizers of GGE were in the final stages of an action research project. Participants of Sisters in Strength (SIS) had already collected data on students’ and school administrators’ perceptions on school discipline policies.
