ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 discusses and classifies the findings of the preceding chapters to answer the guiding research question of this book. Like the empirical chapters, it evaluates the degree to which the significance of actors and actor constellations has changed in the politics of the Polar Regions. Taking into account the different geopolitical discourses under analysis, it assesses how far it is possible to speak of entangled geopolitical discourses influencing the regions’ politics. On the basis of the different positions and views regarding the changing Polar Regions introduced by and within the American polar-rim states, it evaluates the extent to which the politics of the Polar Regions is strengthening the evolution of a new inter-American political space.
