ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will cover how to turn your Big Question from Chapter 9 into action – Purpose – and start to explore how we can make this real.
We will work with the remaining five of the ‘9 Questions’: a technical solution, funding, our need for income, and if you can execute your idea at your current employer by ‘job-crafting’, or if it is better pursued externally.
We will cover the strategic and practical considerations, and take an investment portfolio approach around choosing what type of work to invest in – full- or part-time, executive, non-executive or advisory, etc. – and how we spend and get paid for our time.
As we refine our Big Question and our Purpose, and iterate the potential solutions, we cycle back and forth between Discovery and Fruition – it is normal to feel that you have one foot in each camp for some time.
