ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides a detailed examination and analysis of the evolution and progress of Northeast Asian integration using geo-political, economic, historical, social and cultural perspectives. It talks about the current state of play, how well advanced the plans are for regional integration between China, Japan and Korea (CJK), and whether it can continue to work in the future. The book considers who will benefit most among CJK countries from this new form of economic integration, and the political and economic gains. It highlights a proposition that reflects current research on Free trade agreements (FTAs) based on economics with a focus on economic benefits for member countries and the world. To realize the Era of East Asia, East Asia countries will need to maintain the region's economic growth, enlarge internal domestic markets and create a stable international political and security environment.
