ABSTRACT

This chapter offers teaching and advising for Career Duality. NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising, proposes seven core values for academic advising: caring, commitment, empowerment, integrity, inclusivity, professionalism, and respect. For advisors and counsellors who work for an academic institution, whether secondary or at the college/university level. In the academic context academic advisors are often required to inform students what courses to take to finish their degree program. However, even then students usually have a range of options from which to choose. In addition to content, the course outcomes music industry professionals establish, that is, the base of knowledge students should gain or skills they should possess as a result of taking the course, help to distinguish a capstone course from a careers course or a survey course from a biographical study class. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book.
