Smart decision makers approach any strategic decision with courage and confidence—not arrogance. They don’t look for equilibrium and stability because, having experienced other major strategic shifts, they know they won’t find these. Indeed, stability is antithetical to the type of change that happens in a merger, acquisition, or divestiture.
