Morocco’s leadership in technological innovation for a country of its size has been noted internationally. Morocco’s innovation technologies offer the promise of accomplishing goals while also achieving independence from other countries or markets. Morocco’s variety of capitalism also aimed for targeted sectors to adopt leapfrog technologies so that Moroccans could compete in a globalized market. King Mohammed VI has accelerated the development of several of Morocco’s sectors. Of special note are finance, telecommunications, tourism, sustainable energy, and transit and trade.
