ABSTRACT
The Nigerian Civil War (1967–70) was one of the world’s deadliest conflicts after 1945. Although representatives of Nigeria’s federal military and eastern regional governments tried to avert conflict through negotiations held at Aburi, Ghana, in January 1967, the easterners declared the independence of Biafra in May of that year which led to the start of civil war.
