ABSTRACT
The conclusion provides an overview of the argumentation presented in the book, summarizes its main findings, discusses its aims and provides the policy implications of the research. The book claims that the analysis does provide support for its main theoretical claim about perception being an important factor influencing the small EU states’ position towards integration in the external energy security area. This also has policy consequences as the conclusion claims that energy policy objectives that translate into concrete measures, such as diversification, can be influenced by perception. The decisions to diversify and develop a new energy infrastructure can thus be a result of perceived insufficiencies in the energy security area, rather than structural limitations of the existing infrastructure.
