ABSTRACT

The emergence of information and communication technology (ICT) has led to the acceleration of innovation and its diffusion, generating not only new opportunities but also risks. Innovation is driven by the ability to see connections, to spot opportunities and to take advantage of them. The constantly changing environment and emerging technologies have triggered so-called new teams: virtual, global and self-managing. Digitalization and the growth of the platform economy have been unbalanced. The majority of managers agreed that the digital era disrupts the traditional processes in organizations. Respondents acknowledge that digitalization requires more employee involvement and participation in redesigning of some processes in the company to enhance organization performance and results. Growing digitalization triggered new challenges for companies, such as data security, intellectual property rights (IPR) and personal data protection. Advances in communication technologies have dramatically changed the nature of teamwork. Denis Lock defines several advantages of the traditional project team.
