ABSTRACT

The patient may start out with a relatively mild degree of psychosis, but the drugs, because of their increasing damage on the brain, will cause greater degree of psychosis. There is a law that states that a patient must be informed of the side effects of medication. But, it is a custom of psychiatrists not to inform the patients of these side effects, in spite of the fact that the patients have frequently sued psychiatrists and drug companies for this failure to inform. Worse yet, if the patient has been on anti-psychotic drugs for a long enough period, and then they try to stop, they may get an increase in involuntary movements. If this happens, the only way to overcome this problem, is to resume taking the drugs. A further side effect very rarely mentioned is Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, which results in death. It is caused by the administration of overdose of anti-psychotic drugs.
