ABSTRACT

This chapter explores textile paints, coatings, and embellishing mediums and how to apply them. Much like mediums in the art world, textile mediums are available in a variety of colors and opacities and there are a wide array of binders and mediums available to the dyer. Paints specifically formulated for breakdown will not be covered in this chapter but are explored in chapter 13. I will touch on textile mediums, UV fabric paint, using adhesives as coatings, how to use bronzing powders, hot fix crystals, textile embossing mediums, and texture mediums. Application techniques include dry brushing, sponging, airbrushing, spraying, syringing, squeeze bottling paint, and marbling.
