ABSTRACT

Summary of my professional background and experience, followed by the rationale for the series – to be a guide to young costume professionals as they are starting their careers. The guides focus in depth on areas that I have seen to be stumbling blocks to emerging designers. In this book, we will focus on Fit. Why is fit Important? How do you take measurements? How does one conduct a fitting? What are the standards of ease and correct fit for different categories of garments, over and above the measurements of the wearer? How can one recognize why a garment does not fit, and how can one adjust the garment to correct this?
