ABSTRACT

This chapter covers fitting Jackets of various styles. We define different types of jackets, then move on to the standards of fit for various jackets styles and categories, the body measurements needed to pull a jacket, how to measure existing jackets to check against actor measurements before a fitting appointment, the ease that one needs for different parts of the jacket, jacket structure, and how to conduct a fitting for an existing jacket or a mockup garment. Drawings illustrate different fitting challenges one may encounter with jackets, as well as different styles of lapels, front button stances, and pockets. Further discussion touches on the etiquette of jacket buttoning.
