ABSTRACT

This chapter covers how the costumes for a production may be assembled from a combination of sources rather than being completely created for that particular production to a specific design concept. Costume sources, aside from building costumes, include pulling items from stock, purchasing items, borrowing or renting from other theatres or costume rental houses, or borrowing from the actors' closets. How to check for quality on pulled items, what to avoid when purchasing or pulling costumes, and how to work with borrowed and rental costumes are also discussed.
