ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the general standards of GOOD FIT that can be applied to most garments. The list in this chapter is a good starting point when trying on garments to assess whether the garments will be worth using, because for most time periods and most garments, the elements of fit are the same. These include: hanging smoothly when the wearer is standing straight, being comfortable when moving and falling back into place after movement, being neither too snug or too loose, having the seams fall in the correct position, closing easily, and looking good from all angles.
