ABSTRACT

The foundation for the evolution of American ideology can be traced to the historical development of the nation. In an ever-expanding, consumption-oriented society, Americans prospered through the growing purchasing power of the white and blue-collars. The evolution of management ideology is based on cultural, national, social, political, and religious characteristics of each region. To modernize and compete with the industrial revolution evolving in Europe and America, the Japanese government sent its representatives abroad to explore technologies that would allow development of a modern industrial economy. The success of Japanese businesses during the last few decades is not a fluke, but is based on the strong ideology of its people and the institutions which have evolved during the last four hundred years. The main feature of the German system is its investment in the skills of its work force, supported by the government, business, and labor. The US was the dominant economic force creating new products and technologies.
