ABSTRACT
Environmental conflict may seem like a new idea, but it is not. Environmental conflict among humans is age-old because resources have always been a central concern for survival. Numerous ancient documents detail the ways in which resources can figure into a conflict. There were battles over trees, precious metals, minerals, wild animal herds, desert oases, and others. These incidents are far from uniform. How the environment fits into a case of conflict can widely differ?
