ABSTRACT
Most of the Mostyn sisters’ papers are now in the archive of the Darlington Carmelite convent where material has been comprehensively catalogued by the archivists. I have designated material from this source L for Lierre, otherwise using the reference system employed at Darlington: the first number indicates the box in which the documents are stored, followed by the manuscript group within this – hence Box 3, document group 29 appears as L3.29, followed by the page number. When I have needed to differentiate between groups of papers within this group, I have added a letter to indicate a particular text (for example, L3.34A).
