ABSTRACT

The environment in which organisations operate is currently going through changes at breakneck pace. To be successful in the growing global economy of the 21st century, organisations are obliged to develop new products and services continuously. This chapter discusses the Innovator, the second business model in the typology. The reason for the need for innovation is a shift in the current economy from profits from scarcity to the entrepreneurial profits as a basis for profitability. The Innovator business model is devoted to realising innovations. The design of an Innovator organisation involves a group of people and parties who share information, ideas, experiences and insights, with the expectation that all parties will gain from their cooperation. The most important value the Innovator model offers the customers as endusers, is the fact that thanks to innovation, they receive radically new products or services.
