ABSTRACT

The industrial relations in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) subsidiaries are considerably influenced through the concern's corporate culture. In the opinion of the corporate management it is more consensus-orientated. The German consensus model of industrial relations is no reason for the German management to undertake relocations – 'quite the contrary'. The high level of qualification in the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) facilitated the decision. The corporate group with headquarters in Wolfsburg is one of the leading car manufacturers worldwide and the largest automobile producer in Europe. Volkswagen has a highly cooperative culture of industrial relations and transfers this to the CEE subsidiary enterprises. The industrial relations in the CEE subsidiaries are considerably influenced through the concern's corporate culture. The German works councils are of the opinion that the respective national systems of industrial relations will be lasting on the site/company level.
