ABSTRACT

This chapter was commissioned as a talk, reviewing the almost 30 years of the Independent child and adolescent psychotherapy training at the BAP (now IPCAPA) and looking at innovation, change and history in both the practice of psychoanalytic work with children and in how we train child psychotherapy trainees. The stories of several children are interwoven through it as it demonstrates the relevance for our times of a Winnicottian Independent training school.
