ABSTRACT

Sexually abused from infancy to age 5 by her brother who was abused by his mother, Kate has begun to abuse her own little brother. The slow seven years of once weekly work is outlined, showing her gradual developmental and psychological growth and capacity to gain a sense of self in body and to not have to act when traumatic thoughts come back to mind. The therapist as developmental object and as new object is demonstrated (Anne Hurry/Anna Freud) and the child’s capacity to rehearse with the new object the self she wishes to be.
