ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 concludes the journey of discovery into the world of celebrity fandom and the everyday daily life of an actual fan and discusses the main lessons learned along the way with regard to understanding consumers’ lived fan relationships with their admired celebrity. The chapter reiterates why a reconceptualisation of fans is needed to put the emphasis of fan studies back on the emotional attachment that consumers form, experience and foster with their precious subject of admiration. Moreover, the chapter also suggests that it is also time for stardom and celebrity scholars to put the actual human being and artist back into the celebrity and to discuss them as real-living, complex individuals rather than merely as interchangeable, culturally-constructed semiotic textual constructs.
