ABSTRACT
Once scenes have been measured and production elements have been identified in the script breakdown, the next step is to log all the information into breakdown sheets. Since the breakdown sheets will serve as the building blocks for the shooting schedule and as logistical checklists during production, all data must be entered with care and precision. Much of this process is systematic and routine, but there are instances where it can be hard to determine whether more than one sheet is needed to catalog a particular scene or sequence. It can also be hard at times to figure out what kinds of actions should be categorized as stunts, when accoutrements are props or wardrobe elements, or how to inventory the hundreds of items needed for a cluttered set such as a garage sale. This chapter lays out how to handle both the routine data entry involved in creating breakdown sheets and the exceptions to the rules.
