ABSTRACT

This chapter is full of ideas for how to create and sustain positive and inclusive learning environments for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). It provides activities to help educators co-create an RSE curriculum with young people that meets their interests and needs, ensuring that the learning is relevant to participants and reflects the realities of their everyday lives. RSE should always be based on the needs, interests and concerns of children and young people so that it reflects the realities of their lived experiences of sexualities and relationships. Research suggests that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans + young people often feel excluded from RSE sessions and from the RSE curriculum. RSE should always be based on the needs, interests and concerns of children and young people so that it reflects the realities of their lived experiences of sexualities and relationships.
