ABSTRACT

The hymen is associated with ideas about purity, chastity and the need to control female sexuality and women’s bodies. Too often Relationships and Sex Educat programmes focus on the reproductive function of the body, which leads to a heteronormative view of sex and a focus on the genitals. Fun and creative ideas for learning about reproduction, puberty, periods and period stigma, body fluids, menstrual, hygiene and other ‘beauty’ products. Body image and confidence relating to anatomy and sexual performance. Task participants with creating two large body outlines on a sheet or roll of paper. The key is for participants to read and interpret each other’s body language and think about how to use their bodies to express different emotions.
