ABSTRACT
This is included in this section because body odour and general lack of hygiene can impact on how a student is included/rejected by others. It is however, specific to our time and WEIRD culture (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic): in previous times in history or in other places, bodily odours would not be perceived in the same way. Personal hygiene needs addressing as soon as it becomes clear that it is impacting on classroom dynamics. Other strategies in this book may also be useful.
